Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.

The words of this prayer "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women" are taken from Luke 1:28 which are words that the angel Gabriel said to Mary. The words "Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb" are taken from Luke 1:42 which are words that Mary's cousin Elizabeth said to her. Then we ask Mary to pray for us just the same way we would ask our mother to pray for us.
The Hail Mary is the main prayer of the Holy Rosary. That is one of the many reasons why the Rosary is much beloved by Catholics as well as some Christian denominations. Not many realize that Elvis Presley sang a song about Mary and the Rosary titled Miracle Of The Rosary.

You are more than welcomed Larry. Yeah Mary protects a lot of people by praying for them. She leads a lot of people to her Son. We have a good heavenly mother. You have a very special patron saint too. Since the fourth century he has been one of the most honoured martyrs of the Church. My mother was an orphan too. God bless you my friend.

We are all sort of orphans in our own ways and so, it's good to know Christ's Mother is there with Him; and since we are In Christ and His Mother is with Him, then we are with Mary as well.

I'm not sure if the Celtic Woman or Charlotte Church sing Bruckner's setting of Ave Maria or not. Neither of them sound like Schubert's Ave Maria, or maybe they do. They are all nice anyway.
Yes that's the one (the Bruckner). He wrote a aeries of these unaccompanied motets on passages of church Latin.
The Celtic woman is singing Gounod's setting, actually a melody by Gounod over a piece of Bach as accompaniment. Nice links for this early morning :)
Yeah Dave I tried to do a bit of research on Anton Bruckner yesterday and found he composed quite a few Latin church symphonies in the 19th century. His Ave Maria on YouTube was the only one that I could find that didn't cost. I like it though, it actually works good as the background music to that part of the Walt Disney film Fantasia.
Okay so Celtic Woman is singing Gounod's setting, that's the difference. It's nice to get this advice from someone that plays Classic and Flamenco guitar Paraglider. Thanks pal. I'll have to add both Bruckner's and Gounod's settings of Ave Maria now.
By the way Dave do you have any recordings of you playing Classic or Flamenco guitar on your Hubs? I've looked at some of your Hubs but not all 99. Maybe your 100th Hub would be a good time to treat the HubPages community with your talent? :-)

I didn't have much as an orphan at St Vincent de Paul, but I had the rosary which gave me comfort during that crazy, mixed up time...It was a beautiful rosary given me by my grandmother...blue glass beads with silver interrupts and a silver cross...I have since left the Church but still recall fondly Sister Kazamara telling me that St Laurence ( my patron saint ) and Mary would protect and pray for me...
Perhaps one day I will find my way back to the Church..Thank you for this..Larry
